Today, the Poland-based Carbon Studio unveilied its new game, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Tempestfall, a VR-only Warhammer action-adventure RPG game

Set in the Age of Sigmar universe, Tempestfall begins following the Necroquake. From the domain of Nagash and across all the Realms, Nighthaunt forces are rising. A specially assembled retinue of Stormcast Eternals embarks on a quest to investigate a new threat to the Mortal Realms. Side by side with these elite soldiers, you must explore the dread-filled realm of Shyish and battle your way through the Nighthaunt in a quest to protect the Forces of Order from a sinister plot.

Coupling immersive melee combat with powerful, motion-based spellcasting, your pursuit will take you through seven-plus hours of action-packed gameplay in a world full of Warhammer lore, lurking secrets, and hidden dangers.

New Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell VR titles announced at Oculus Connect

For the first time, Ubisoft is bringing two of their biggest franchises to VR with new chapters in both the Assassin’s Creed and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell series. Announced at the Oculus Connect virtual event, the two games will be launching exclusively on Oculus VR.

Both projects are being led by Ubisoft’s Red Storm Entertainment, known for their work on VR titles like Werewolves Within and Star Trek: Bridge Crew, as well as their pioneering work on the Tom Clancy series with such games as the original Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon. The two VR games are also being co-developed by Ubisoft Düsseldorf, Ubisoft Mumbai, and Ubisoft Reflections.

“We are always exploring new ways we can leverage technology to help us create memorable gaming experiences,” said Elizabeth Loverso, Vice President of Product Development, Ubisoft’s Red Storm Entertainment. “Oculus’s state-of-the-art hardware will enable us to bring the worlds of Assassin's Creed and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell to life for fans in a new way. Oculus Quest 2 leaked

The Oculus Quest 2 VR headset was leaked in a since removed promotional video uploaded to a marketing hub run by parent company Facebook.  The new HMD will be powered by Qualcomm’s XR specific Snapdragon XR2 platform, unlike the general purpose Snapdragon 835 that powered the original Quest. The new headset adds 2 additional gigs of RAM for a total of 6 gigs of RAM.

Polyarc, creators of smash-hit VR game Moss, just secured $9m in Series B funding!

Today Polyarc announced the close of its $9 million Series B fund raise led by Hiro Capital, followed by Vulcan Capital, an existing investor, and Galaxy Interactive via its Galaxy EOS VC Fund, a partnership with EOSIO blockchain software publisher Block.one. Leveraging experience from creating Moss—one of the top-rated virtual reality (VR) games of all time—and the team’s passion to deliver immersive games using today’s VR technology, Polyarc will now add augmented reality (AR) to the studio’s core business competencies. Ian Livingstone, a founding partner of Hiro Capital, will join the Polyarc Board of Directors.

“The thing we want people to remember about Polyarc in 40 years is our characters. Our means to make our characters the most memorable is to build a company oriented around introducing them directly to our players in person. VR, AR, and the spectrum in between, offer an opportunity to connect our players with our characters through physical interaction and emotional feedback in a way that no other medium can match,” said Tam Armstrong, CEO and co-founder, Polyarc. “This round of funding was essential for us to expand our development focus to further embrace VR and AR games.”

Polyarc was founded in 2016 by Chris Alderson, Tam Armstrong, and Danny Bulla to pursue the unique opportunity to contribute to the foundational design space and language of a new fundamental form of games. This is the second round of funding, as Polyarc raised $3.5 million in 2016 to fund the development of Moss, which ranks as one of the top-rated VR games of all time and has received more than 80 global industry awards and nominations from notable organizations such as BAFTA, The Game Awards, E3 Game Critics, D.I.C.E., GDC, Golden Joystick, and the Annie Awards.

ILMxLAB, released a behind-the-scenes video today on their upcoming Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge VR experience.

In Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge, you play a droid repair technician who crash lands on Batuu after a pirate attack. In typical Star Wars fashion, you’ll quickly get swept up into a grand adventure on the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost. “Matching the look and feel of Galaxy’s Edge is our main goal,” says Steve Henricks, visual director, noting that the creative team has worked with artists and assets from the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction to ensure authenticity. In addition, the experience promises true Star Wars immersion. You’ll listen to a jukebox, play space darts, go into the wilds of Batuu and explore, and maybe best of all, hang out with porgs.

Niantic to donate money from PokemonGo Fest to black gaming projects, community upliftment charities, and trans rights.

Pokémon Go maker Niantic will be making a $5m minimum donation from this year's Pokémon Go Fest ticket sales going toward several causes including funding new projects from Black gaming and AR creators

"We'll be donating Niantic proceeds from Pokémon Go 2020 Fest ticket sales, committing a minimum of $5m," Hanke wrote in a lenghty statement posted to Twitter last night.

"Half of the proceeds donated will be used to fund new projects from Black gaming and AR creators that can live on the Niantic platform, with the ultimate goal of increasing content that represents a more diverse view on the world. The other half will go to US nonprofit organisations that are helping local communities rebuild."

Niantic will also donate $100k and match employee contributions to the Marsha P. Johnson Institute to support Black trans people.

"We are committed to this cause," Hanke wrote. "These initiatives don't end with an announcement. The work to follow through will require years of effort to yield the impact we seek.

"The heart of Niantic is our community of players. It is imperative that we stand up to support our Black Trainers, Agents and Wizards. We aim to be a force of change committed to the long road ahead of rebuilding a more just and fair system where all are welcomed, valued and have a fair chance at success."

Twin Peaks VR to launch this Friday the 13th

The Twin Peaks VR experience will launch on December 13th, and the trailer is now available below. The VR experience, priced at $9.99, will be available for Oculus Rift, Oculus Rift-S, HTC Vive and HTC Vive Cosmos. Oculus Quest and Playstation VR versions will debut in the coming next year.

Ramen VR, an indie VR studio that’s creating a unique VR metaverse, today revealed that its crowdfunding campaign for Zenith, a fantasy cyberpunk VR MMORPG for VR and PC, has hit over 1,000% crowd funding by hitting a total of $250,000 with 24 hours left to go. The campaign continues to prove out the appeal of being able to play, socialize, and create unique experiences in the first cross-platform VR MMORPG, and Ramen is celebrating with the release of a new Spellcasting Teaser video.

The studio also released the first concept art for the new Mineko race added in the game’s sixth funded stretch goal:

The Mineko are a race of humanoid cat people from a distant land who will be playable in Zenith. They are distinguished by their cats’ eyes, pointed ears, and tails. They are, on average, the same height as humans, but they tend to be slender and more lithe, able to jump long distances and maintain their balance well. For many years, the Mineko Ballet has been a popular Zenith attraction; humans and Mineko alike love to watch the graceful dancers. The only thing that sets them off? Dogs, of course!

Inspired by anime and JRPG classics and reimagined as a dynamic living world with cross-play between VR platforms and PC, Zenith offers a futuristic universe in which players will fight, craft, explore, and live as they forge alliances and friendships in guilds and parties. In the game world, heroes are needed to venture forth to save Zenith from calamity. Characters who take up this challenge can participate in epic raids and world events or go solo to become a powerful leader whose deeds will be forever immortalized.
