YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG Now Available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Steam

YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG, the surreal Japanese-style RPG set at the end of last millennium from Ysbryd Games and Ackk Studios, arrives on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PC and Mac today. A PS Vita version will spin conspiracy theories later in 2019.

It’s spring of ‘99 and Alex just returned home from college as a graduate. When a cat steals his grocery list, it starts him on the longest and weirdest journey of his life: women vanishing from elevators, beings made of light, and enemies ranging from smiley faces on springs to giant pandas armed to the teeth are just a few of the unusual things he encounters on his quest.

Join Alex and friends as they explore surreal dungeons filled with puzzles and traps, crash evil parties, peel back the layers of conspiracy and engage in combat based on minigames.

YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG features more than 30 hours of content including a fully-voiced main story campaign with voice actors whose previous works include Borderlands: The Pre-SequelTales of ZestiriaDisgaea 5Attack on Titan and more. The simple textures and saturated color scheme enhance the supernatural quality of the environments and characters present in this insane adventure.

The soundtrack, featuring compositions from Undertale creator Toby Fox and Hiroki Kikuta of Secret of Mana, is as distinctive as the game itself, including an electroacoustic fusion of jazz, funk, traditional JRPG-style tunes and swing.

“YIIK is an eclectic mix of ideas and crazy audiovisual stimulation inspired by a time when the internet was new and people were only just learning about the strangeness of the world around them,” said Andrew Allanson, founder and co-director, Ackk Studios. “Today it’s easy to find details on just about anything, but back in 1999, the internet offered up more questions than answers. YIIK explores the what-could-be that existed before Snopes.”

YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Steam for $19.99 and supports English. Japanese and Simplified Chinese support will be added in Q1 2019.

Futuristic arcade combat racer "GRIP" to come to various platforms this fall

Members of the original team behind the classic arcade combat racer, Rollcage have come together to bring GRIP – a ferociously fast, futuristic arcade combat racer . The game looks to offer a true, wheel-gripping racing experience - where utter destruction serves one true purpose: be the first to cross the finish line.

“It’s a dream come true to once again find myself working on another great racing project” said Robert Baker, principal programmer for GRIP and former lead programmer at Rollcage’s developer, Attention to Detail. “There are so many elements to GRIP that take me back, and I love the true racing experience that Rollcage and now GRIP both deliver. GRIP is truly poised to be the spiritual successor to the Rollcage games of the late 90s that so many people loved playing.”

Taking full advantage of the current generation of gaming hardware, GRIP accelerates ahead of the racing crowd by offering players speeds of over 767 mph - making it the fastest racing game on four wheels, across roads, ceilings and anything else players can land their tires on to. The game will benefit from the enhanced power behind the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X, delivering eye-pleasing visuals with spectacular in-game physics and harnessing the potential that comes from building with Unreal® Engine 4.

GRIP will see racers speeding their way around 19 breathtaking tracks across a variety of hostile and foreign worlds. Remaining focused on the task at hand, players must be merciless in their quest to cross the finish line; deploying an arsenal of 11 devastating weapons and power-ups to give them the advantage to take the lead against fierce competitors. From explosive darts, mines, and missiles to shields and turbos, these weapons will allow players to not only target other cars, but the environment surrounding them - blasting their way through structures or collapsing them unexpectedly onto unsuspecting opponents.

Racers can pick from a roster of 15 armored cars, some swift and agile, while others are brutish and heavily armored. Modifying further to suit their style, players can also customize each vehicle with an array of varied paint jobs, decals, wheels and other details. More information about the game’s cars, tracks, weapons and other modes - including Carkour and Arena - will be detailed by Wired Productions later this year.

GRIP is currently available in early access on Steam, with a full release planned for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One, Xbox One X, Nintendo Switch and PC later this year.
