Marshall from Detroit is a 3D, 360-degree virtual reality experience featuring Marshall Mathers (Eminem) and Sway Calloway and directed by Caleb Slain in collaboration with Félix Lajeunesse & Paul Raphaël. The 21-minute immersive VR experience, produced by Felix & Paul Studios in conjunction with Facebook's Oculus, invites the viewer to join Eminem on a night ride through Detroit with an up-close-and-personal view into the rapper's thoughts and views on the city he has always called home.
This is not the only Felix and Paul film selected to be at Sundance.
Traveling While Black, directed by Academy Award® winner Roger Ross Williams in collaboration with Félix Lajeunesse and Paul Raphaël and co-directed by Ayesha Nadarajah, is a 20-minute 3D, 360-degree virtual reality documentary that immerses the viewer in the long history of restricted movement for black Americans and the creation of safe spaces in our communities. Traveling While Black was co-produced by Felix & Paul Studios and Traveling While Black, Inc. in collaboration with Facebook's Oculus.
"We are honored to be premiering our work at Sundance for the 5th year in a row and thrilled that both 'Marshall from Detroit' and 'Traveling While Black' are part of the official selection this year," said Félix Lajeunesse, co-founder and creative director of Felix & Paul Studios. "While they differ from one another in style and story, both of these immersive experiences share a common theme—a unique glimpse into life in America in the past, present, and future."
Both Marshall from Detroit and Traveling While Black will be exhibited at various Sundance Film Festival New Frontier venues throughout the festival's run.
