ILMxLAB and Lucasfilm partner with Nissan for Star Wars VR tie-in/car promotion.
ILMxLAB and Lucasfilm announced a new VR experience in partnership with Nissan, Star Wars: Droid Repair Bay — Astro-Mechanic for the Resistance.
Participants must play the role of an technician aboard General Leia’s ship and repair BB-8 and other astromechs. Star Wars: Droid Repair Bay is the official VR experience connected to Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and will see the debut of brand new astromechs, complete with their own unique personalities and original designs.
The VR experience developed for HTC Vive and Samsung Gear is part of marketing partnership to promote The Last Jedi and will be in Nissan dealerships in the US, Mexico, and Canada very soon.
This is obviously something very marketing focus but I think things like this have helped ILMxLAB learn and grow in VR as shown by their great work in helping VR accessibility. catsandvr.com/blog/accessibility
