Virtro Entertainment to bring their take on the Wizard Of Oz to PSVR with Run Dorothy Run

Virtro Entertainment – the female-led VR indie game studio out of Vancouver, Canada, today announced the release of  Run Dorothy Run – an immersive endless-runner and rhythm VR game, with a cheeky take on the classic novel, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz." The game is being released on Sony PlayStation VR in the Fall of 2017, with other platforms to follow shortly after.

Run, jive, and bop your way through the world of Oz to an electro-swing soundtrack while the story unfolds. Explore fantastical lands in your journey through the Emerald City, the Scorched Plains, the Wicked Witch's castle, and more. Clash with enemies, collect magic crystals, and activate power-ups, all to an irresistible dance beat. Unravel the curious alliance Dorothy makes with the Wizard of Oz to settle a score with the maybe-not-so-Wicked Witch. But don’t take yourself too seriously—navigate the crazy plot twists with your tongue firmly in your cheek.

The Lost Bear is an upcoming 2D VR adventure game for Playstation VR.

The Lost Bear’ is a cinematic 2D VR platformer with a hand painted art style. Set in a strange and abandoned world, the story follows Walnut as she is pulled from the safety of her brother. Bravely venturing out on her own Walnut has to overcome her fears and save her beloved teddy from the clutches of the Toy Snatcher.

“Creating our first game ‘The Lost Bear’ has been a big milestone for us, it’s been a tough road with many sleepless nights. The learning curve to making a 2D game in VR has been very challenging, we’ve had to overcome many creative and technical decisions in order to bring ‘The Lost Bear’ to life. From an art point of view, Lead Artist Martin Reimann said that “Working on ‘The Lost Bear’ really helped us define our art style and create something very special on the PSVR platform. PSVR really pushed us creatively as we had to create a consistent world in both 3d and 2d”.

Lead Designer Jack Bennett said that from his perspective "Working in VR brings with it a lot of new and interesting challenges compared to a standard 2D game. We really had to put a lot of thought into how to communicate to the player to focus on the 2D or the 3D areas of the game. I think the final result really immerses the player in the world of The Lost Bear and brings a fresh twist to the 2D platformer”.

Sony and Grammy Award winning Selfie fanatics The Chainsmokers colab for FREE Playstation VR interactive musical experience.

Grammy winning dance music duo, The Chainsmokers have a free Playstation VR app out now. A collaboration between Sony and The Chainsmokers, the free Paris.VR Virtual Reality Music experience is currently only available in North America and getting some good reviews on Reddit with user feedback being one Reddit user saying, “Whether you’re a fan of EDM or not, I highly recommend checking this thing out!”
 

You can Influence new remixes of the hit song ‘Paris’ based on the choices you make throughout the experience. Structures and objects activate new audio elements simply by looking around. Choose a new path each time you enter the experience, and let the music engulf you as you lean into the experience, or simply lean back and enjoy the ‘Paris’ daydream.

The Chainsmokers came to my attention with their tonuge in check video for their song "Selfie" and have come quite a way to now be considered established creative talents. I look forward to checking out Paris VR.

The Invisible Hours coming to PlayStation VR, HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift.

The Invisible Hours is a complex, murder mystery set in VR, which allows players to freely explore an intricate web of interwoven stories within a sprawling old mansion, in order to untangle a dark truth. The player is invisible to the cast of characters, giving them freedom to follow and observe anyone in the story - or to explore the mansion for hidden clues at their own pace. The game is a gripping mystery, and to find all its deepest secrets will require careful observation and exploration.

Obduction coming to Playstation VR

Cyan, Inc., the legendary indie studio that created beloved and best-selling games, Myst and Riven, today announced that their critically-acclaimed sci-fi adventure puzzler, Obduction, will be getting its first console reveal this holiday season at PlayStation Experience, December 3-4, at the Anaheim Convention Center.

With its massive player base and rich PSVR experience, PlayStation is the perfect platform to introduce Obduction's meticulously-crafted worlds to millions seeking to magically transport themselves elsewhere," said Rand Miller, CEO of Cyan. “Cyan has seen the future and we're all in on VR."

Having recently announced Obduction for HTC Vive, Cyan has already begun work adding support for hand controls and room scale. These new features will provide an even more immersive experience to players with the appropriate capabilities (Vive, Oculus Touch, and PSVR).

New FREE Call of Duty VR content for ALL Playstation VR owners available on Nov 4

Activision announced that the The Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare - Jackal Assault VR Experience will be available to all PS4 owners, not just for players who have purchased the game, as a free, added bonus on November 4.

Just head to the PlayStation VR section of the PlayStation Store, and after selecting Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare – Jackal Assault VR Experience, follow the prompts to download and install. You will need a Playstation VR to play. 

Ride the rails and throw up with Rollercoaster Dreams for Playstation VR.

So another game has been announced for Playstation VR and it may make you nauseous. Rollercoaster Dreams launches on the same day as Playstation VR and allows you to not only build your own rollercoster and ride it in VR it allows you control of a whole theme park equipped with bumper cars, carnival food, and zombie dance parties. Wait wut? Yes, there seems to also be some strange Zombie Dance Party in the trailer. 

This is a bit odd but the game looks interesting and should be a hit since it will be a launch day Playstation VR title. They game features lots of options including  a rollercoaster editor so players can make infinite patterns of rollercoasters.

Just make sure to not lose your lunch when riding the rollarcoaster. Did I mention the game has a morbid sense of humor with the rollercoster riding stats including wet seats, vomiting, and missing persons! 

I also may be mistaken but the game may also feature Rami Malek from USA's hit sitcom MR. Robot.

Godzilla VR announced for Playstation VR in Japan

Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia and Toho have announced, a Godzilla virtual reality experience that will launch on October 13 in Japan as a free for a limited time download on the PlayStation Store. 

The actual 3D CG data utilized for the movie will also be used for the game in order to created the best possible VR Gojira. No word on if this will launch in other regions. 

Shin Godzilla Special Demo Contents for PlayStation VR (title tentative), a virtual reality experience that will launch on October 13 in Japan as a free for a limited time download on the PlayStation Store.

From EVR to Eve: Valkyrie! CCP made a killer VR game.

Back at E3 2013 CCP's EVR demo left me awestruck and totally a VR fanboy. Now as Oculus RIft releases and EVR has now become EVE: Valkyrie I want to share this moment in time that introduced me to Oculus Rift for the first time. 3 years later and EVE: Valkyrie is live check out the gameplay footage.
